Aten Place

Aten Place is the site of the famous "Concerts in the Barn" summer series, the location of a lovely bed & breakfast, and the longtime home of Mike's Aunt Max and Uncle Bill. Located in Boyne Falls, MI -- just one village over from Mike's hometown, Boyne City -- Aten Place often served as a second home for Mike while growing up. It is situated in the heart of Boyne Valley, with acres of forest behind the property (and great sledding hills in the winter!). Bill & Max's fabulous old-farmstead house is surround by beautiful flower gardens and a large vegetable garden.

Mike was living at Bill & Max's during the summer of 1995, raisin' a ruckus with his friend Danny Boyer (Bill & Max's grandson), when the first concert in the barn occured. The boys even dug the hole for the original firepit. Fourteen years later, that firepit has been converted into a flowerbed -- replaced by a much larger firepit -- and the concerts in the barn are running bigger and better than ever! Over the years, these concerts have motivated many improvments to the Aten Place barn, including theatre seats, a covered picnic area, and a sheltered buffet booth (lovingly named the 'pig trough'). We are extremely excited to hold our hold our wedding at Aten Place. Not only is the setting overwhelmingly beautiful, from the lush flower gardens to the rich array of rustic antiques from the bygone days of logging, but the place also means a lot to us. We hope that you will find Northern Michigan and Aten Place just as wonderful as we do!
